Did some light trimming. County seems to have done the heavy lifting. Muddy, but in good shape otherwise for Saturday's walk.

MaintenanceObstructed

We found 4 obstructions, cleared one, but had to leave a small one on #3 and a double one on 2 for the boys with saws; no need to bring big powerful chain saws, these are long slender trees/leaners. They are close to each other. Trails are very muddy/slippery. We chopped lots of bushes and plants, cleared lots of debris. Hours are per person.

Today was wild, rainy and awesome! Cleared a few small obstructions, whacked a lot of overhanging branches and removed lots of debris. Had a nice talk with Jim Davids and met Gary Wollerman with his clippers in hand! Hours are per person.

It was very busy this Memorial Day and the parking lot was full when we arrived and when we left. The trails are clear, but muddy again in the usual places. We cleared debris off the trails, as always. Hours are per person.

Trails are basically clear, but somewhat obstructed by low leaners (duck please!) and overgrown bushes and plants across the trails all over the preserve. We had to "bushwhack" our way along some of the narrow trails that nature is taking over. The stinging nettles are as tall as a person and are blooming, sigh!!! We whacked back many bushes and plants, removed lots of branches and debris. It was raining again, so the trails are wet, muddy and lots of puddles everywhere again too. Hours are per person

We found lots of windthrown sticks, branches and debris on all trails including a few big snags. One laid across the Cranberry Lake trail next to the "Good Pal Max" bench that we removed as it was rotten, thus fairly light weight. Hours are per person.

A very long, but skinny tree is down along the Dry Lake neighborhood trail, which is not numbered. We managed to remove it and cleaned up all the debris around it (see photos attached). We also cut and whacked intruding plant along the Cranberry Lake trails (No.7) to the end. Many trails are getting very narrow along all the Cross Island trails. I don't want to mention my concern around that cracked leaning tree on #6 any more. Hours are per person.

We've been busy enjoying our beaches at low tide for the past few days and today was no exception. We walked the entire beach at Barnum at minus -2.46 tide (at 1:46pm) all around on the quicksand just below the slippery rocks! How I wish that we could walk on hard sand a mile out! Sigh, .... The weather was perfect too! We also walked the trails and did our usual maintenance. Hours are per person

Trails are clear, but so muddy in places you may call it obstructed. The Hobbit trail is so muddy and slippery that I slipped and almost fell several times. We also walked the beach at minus tide and it was lovely. The beavers have built a hut in the middle of the dam - Hahaha! Across from there, we heard and saw a couple of Virginia Rails scurry around the high grass in the water. Other than that, we just whacked a few nettles along No. 3. They are out of control there.
