MaintenanceRemoved Obstruction

Trails are still a bit icy, very wet and slippery mud. I recommend that you wear rubber boots! We removed a minor obstruction on No. 6 ..... yes, another planted-itself-branch, and the debris on the road/trail. Also, there's a new garbage area, namely the new lookout platform (that is closed pending the inspector). So help me God! Hours are per person.

Cranberry Lake Trail extension - since ground was frozen I couldn't do "dirt work" of removing roots, etc so worked on clearing new trail to reach beaver lodge and potential crossing. Bushwhacked to end goal to get phone compass coordinates and confirmed that it's well within park boundary. May need to consider putting up "private property" sign as we make trail more accessible. There were already park visitors crashing through the brush (but gave up) while I was out there.

We started at Cama Beach but found most of it closed, so we continued on to Cross Island, including the Dry Lake/Neighborhood trail (not numbered), then back down to Cranberry Lake and the extension trail (also not numbered), all the way to the lake. We cleared debris off all the trails that are in good shape, just still frozen as is the lake! We even walked on the ice with caution! Photos to follow, it was beautifully calm and gorgeous today! Lots of people there today walking the new extension trail. Hours are per person.

Trails were clear, but frozen solid incl. the muddy areas. There was lots of debris that we picked up and removed branches etc. Sadly, that old big tire is still there on No. 4, North Forest loop, as I reported last time with photos. Hours are per person.

We removed several obstructions, but had to leave one on No. 6, Southern Wetland trail. We removed a fir treetop, and a long skinny tree from No. 7 and lots of branches, twigs and debris that were everywhere on all the trails. The trails are frozen incl. the mud and puddles, and it's slippery in the steep areas. Hours are per person.

Tree down on No 13 across Howard Adams trail, medium size, fairly easy to step across. Also a few big branches/treetops that we removed along with a lot of smaller branches, sticks and debris from all the trails. It was so cold today that all the wet mud and puddles were frozen solid. Hours are per person.

Walked Cranberry Lake Trail. Clear, but lots of debris, twigs and branches that I removed from the main trail and also from the extension. Thank you Jay for cutting and removing that tree from the trail. Photo taken from the extension trail; it was so serene and beautiful - the quiet before the storm!

That headbanger on No. 8, Bluff Trail is getting lower and more dangerous. I think it needs to be removed. I almost hit my head on it, cleaning the trail. Photos attached. I removed/cleaned a lot of sticks, debris and big branches off all the trails that are very wet and muddy with lots of big puddles/standing water everywhere, esp. on the Fullerton Trail. And, there's a little more beaver action at the Heavenly pond. Photos attached!

The trails are wet, muddy and slippery with lots of big puddles. The entry steps are basically under water. Thank goodness for all the boardwalks, but it needs more. We removed lots of branches, sticks and twigs from the trails. We walked some trails twice. The closed sign to the Hobbit Trail had blown over, so raised it up again. AND, we found an interesting snake too! Love that! Hours are per person

Tree down on trail No 9; we cleared all the branches and the trail around it to make it passable if you can get across it as it's knee high. Also, that old tire on trail #4 has re-appeared. It' was there a year or 2 ago, but seems it was buried ???? Reported to Island County for removal. ... Note: hours are per person

I found the trails as I expected, especially at 11 feet high tide, wet and obstructed. I managed to walk the main trail to the end and also around the beach area at the beginning. No way to cross over though to the main trail. LOL The 2nd bridge had 2 planks/pieces of driftwood extending the bridge, so if you can balance on those, you can make it across! I have no idea how long those can stay there though! See photos. It was a great day for a walk and to check it out!
